Editorial Director, Spiceworks
Description
We're seeking a full-time Editorial Director who will lead Spiceworks content development and connect
the dots with ZDNET Editorial and Aberdeen Research. This leader will manage a team of freelance
writers focused on enterprise tech topics and will work cross-functionally with editors, writers,
researchers, community managers, and other staff. The role requires a person with attention to detail,
proven ability to juggle multiple priorities, genuine curiosity about technology and innovation, and a leadership mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the publication and updating of well-optimized content on B2B and enterprise tech, including news, features, advice, tips, long form, video, and social media content
- Lead the execution of reader's choice awards for the most important categories in tech, powered by the Spiceworks community
- Work with the Spiceworks community team to mine the gems from UGC and turn them into well-packaged content
- Collaborate with Aberdeen Research analysts to create an editorial calendar and channel their expertise and original research into high-performing content on valuable B2B topics
- Manage a network of B2B freelance contributors including hiring, onboarding, coaching, training, and mentoring
- Edit content for style, tone, and flow; fix grammar, punctuation, and formatting errors; conform content to in-house style
- Use analytics and other tools to track and optimize story performance; report on weekly progress toward goals and targets
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as an editor
- Broad understanding of the technology industry
- Deep experience with B2B and enterprise tech content
- Experience hiring, managing, and developing freelancers
- An understanding of SEO best practices and what it takes to create content that ranks well
- Proficiency in meeting deadlines and setting priorities
- A great teammate who excels in cross-functional collaboration
- Fast editing skills; ability to balance strong voice, editorial quality, and performance optimization
- Meticulous organizational skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication
- Must be highly adaptable and flexible; priorities change rapidly and regularly
- Must be trustworthy, committed, considerate, and a good listener
Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $110,000 to $150,000, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
