Staff Accountant
We currently have an opportunity for a Staff Accountant at our corporate office in Wood Dale, IL. Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include:
- All activities in the fixed assets function – Report, monitor and maintain the company’s Fixed Assets and CIP. Post and reconcile additions, retirements, cost adjustments, transfers, depreciation expense and accumulated depreciation.
- Record monthly journal entries and review P&L for completeness. Work with business unit partners in multiple locations in the reporting and analysis of financial statement results including explaining monthly variances by business unit.
- Lead the month-end closing process to ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reports
- Prepare supporting tax schedules for income and property tax returns
- Audit accounts payable batches to ensure accuracy of coding, authorization and amount
- Review of journal entries and reconciliations
- Monthly Balance Sheet account analysis and reconciliation ensuring reconciling items are resolved promptly
- Participate in annual audit by updating preexisting schedules and completing analysis for ad-hoc requests
- Responsible for ensuring effective internal controls are maintained
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
Candidates selected to interview must meet the following minimum requirements for consideration for this position:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
- Two to five years experience
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Access, and general ledger applications
- JD Edwards experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong interactive and communication skills
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- High energy, self motivated with initiative
- Results oriented
- Receptive to change
- Work effectively in team environment to enhance team efficiency
- Ability to work under pressure and complete responsibilities within required deadlines
- Ability to work overtime, as required
