Position overview:

Optimas is currently searching for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Supplier Development Engineer to work with the Supplier Development Director and team to manage the regional supplier base. You will act as a key part of the Supplier Development Engineering team, delivering against targets and objectives of assigned suppliers to ensure the efficient running of the P2P process and maintaining Customer Focus.
This role reports directly to the Supplier Development Director, International.

Main responsibilities:

·         Schedule, manage and conduct planned and unplanned supplier audits as required by the business in line with the Supplier Audit Plan and business requirements ensuring lead times and targets for audit completion are met and, that all non-compliances identified are actioned by the supplier and re-audited on completion.
·         Ensure compliance of all assigned regional suppliers to the Optimas Supplier manual and ethical minimum compliance requirements.
·         Add new assigned suppliers to the Approved supplier list and maintain their status.
·         Ensure the correct on boarding of all assigned regional new suppliers ensuring that all requirements (Feasibility, APQP, NPI, PPAP, Compliance, Delivery & Packaging) are fully understood and compliant.
·         Ensure that all suppliers submit required self assessments to any Optimas or Customer identified specific audit and continuous Improvement tools (E.G. CQI-9, 11, 12, ETC).
·         Support Strategic Sourcing, Commercial & Bid, and New Item Introduction teams with new product introduction at assigned suppliers through use of the Optimas Supplier APQP Process, conducting supplier APQP reviews in line with Optimas & Suppliers project timing to facilitate supplier on-time project delivery.
·         Support Optimas PPAP GCOE as required with assigned suppliers when supplier PPAP submissions are rejected and GCOE Engineers are unable to solve directly.
·         First line day to day supervisory support for Supplier Development Engineer in region.

 

·         Support Strategic Sourcing in all assigned new supplier activities, supplier development and cost (EBITDA) enhancement activities linked to supplier agreements facilitation.
·         Schedule, manage and support all assigned regional supplier improvement activity to ensure timelines and targets are adhered to and met as planned, to ensure the efficient running of Optimas processes and maintaining Customer Focus.
·         Support supplier problem solving activities as required by the business, including support of Optimas Quality Engineering teams with suppliers failing to, or unable to resolve Optimas quality concerns.
·         Schedule, manage, and support all required supplier COPQ activities with assigned suppliers.
·         Schedule, manage and conduct supplier training activities including, but not limited to APQP, PPAP, and Concern Management / 8D with all assigned suppliers.
·         Provide regular regional activity and summary performance reports linked to objective targets.
·         Actively support the Supplier Development Director in continuous improvement of all current systems, processes and the development of new processes / systems
·         Actively represent the Supplier Development function in all assigned regional, internal and supplier management reviews / audits as requested.
·         Ensure that all processes and procedures applicable to the role are adhered to and that records are readily available.
·         First line day to day supervisory support for Supplier Development Engineer in region.
·         Other relevant tasks and duties, as assigned.

·         Audit Schedule Adherence (On time, Average time to close) and up to date.
·         Audit Status (Agreed Suppliers to “A” Status).
·         COPQ Reduction (PPM & Incidents Assigned Suppliers).
·         Supplier Development (EBITDA Enhancement (In line with Supplier Agreement requirements (OEE, Margin))).
·         NCR Status (Assigned Suppliers, On Time, time to close, Reduction).
·         NCR Cost Recovery (Assigned Suppliers NCR cost recovery %) support.

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Metallurgical or Engineering Qualification.
  • Proven experience in a Quality Role.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Lead Auditor Qualification (IATF 16949 or VDA 6.3).
  • Six Sigma Qualification (Green Belt Minimum).
  • Working knowledge of APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, PPAP & 8D, including Problem Solving techniques.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Tool Box.
  • Knowledge of fasteners and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to use or understand the use of a wide range of measurements and test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings / specifications.
  • Ability to travel and work away from home - frequent regional travel (car, train or plane).
  • International travel to support business demands.
  • Full driving license.
  • Computer literate (PowerPoint, Excel & Word).
  • A strong character with effective communication skills both by email; phone and face to face.
  • Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines yet with a good attention to detail.
