Projects and Maintenance Engineer (PME).

To receive appropriate training.
To keep up-to-date records of training.
Where a forklift licence is held, training specific to spill control is a requirement.
To continuously investigate improvement opportunities to production plant and allied equipment, work handling equipment and operational methods throughout The Company to achieve increased efficiency, productivity and zero defect, in response to requests from PME.
To carry out routine PM programmes which have been accepted as PM Dept.’s responsibility through liaison with Departmental Supervisors.
To carry out emergency repairs to plant and equipment as a priority (see special notes).
General machining, fitting and design.
To help maintain an adequate P.M. stores and records of P.M. work carried out.
To assist with project work aimed at the continuous improvement of production plant and equipment and operational methods to achieve increasing productivity and Zero Defects.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
Maintain safe working practices and observe Health & Safety regulations in accordance with Company Policy & current legislation at all times.
To ensure that The Dept maintains a high standard of Housekeeping (cleanliness of workspace and related areas) throughout.
Maintain environmental controls according to current legislation, Company procedures and good practice.
VARIATION OF DUTIES:
This specification has been drawn up to cover all the main areas of responsibility, at the present time. It should not be considered as exclusive, as it may be necessary to adjust, add or remove functions at any time, which form a natural/logical part of the overall responsibility.
The appointee will need to be involved in 80% of 'hands on' work & 20% investigatory and diagnosis work.
Both planned overhauls/repairs and emergency breakdown work may require The PME's attendance during works holiday periods and periods outside normal working hours, including emergency call-in situations in accordance with Company Policy.
'O' Levels or GCSE Grade 1 in: Maths, English, Physics
HND or HNC Mech. or Prod Eng. and/or appropriate City and Guilds.
Machine, equipment fitting and maintenance
Fault detection & Problem solving.
Reading Engineering drawings & Technical Drawing.
Marking out, Grinding, milling, shaping, lathe work & Welding to a good standard in a toolroom environment.
Maintenance & repair of light prodn m/c’s & equipment.
A comprehensive knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, Electrics and lubrication systems is also necessary.
Fault detecting/repairs to mechanical, Electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic machinery and equipment.
General machining capability to a good standard.
Sheet metal work/welding.
Forward, logical & analytical planner.
