Summary:
The Human Resources Director (HRD) for Northern Dutchess hospital and Putnam Hospital will report to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources (AVP HR) and will be a key advisor to the senior leaders. The HRD will manage the HR Business Partner team and will actively collaborate with the regional TA team. The HRD will partner with Hospital Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement hospital-focused people strategies focused on the ongoing improvement of recruitment, employee engagement, retention, and succession.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as advisor to senior leaders for assigned hospitals. Cultivates a work environment across their HR Team and Client areas in support of the Hospitals mission and values.
- Assesses, evaluates, and identifies areas to optimize the current and future performance of the Hospital. Consults, coaches and advises Hospital Senior Leadership of new ways of operating to achieve improved business goals. Relies on a mixture of HR and business data / knowledge to influence outcomes.
- Manages HR Business Partners as assigned. Champions established goals and strategies promoting a collaborative team environment. Provides ongoing coaching and development to ensure individual and team achievement of short and mid-range goals.
- Acts as member of the Hospital Senior Leadership Team responsible for developing and implementing hospital-focused people strategies focused on the ongoing improvement of recruitment, employee engagement, retention, and succession. Manages HRBP Team and local-level recruiters to achieve hospital business goals and objectives.
- Partners with market TA Director on the development of the overall talent strategy for the hospital(s). This includes workforce planning and an overall hospital sourcing strategy.
- Serves as an escalation point to the HRBP Team and oversees and advises on complex employee relations matters. Ensure investigations are through and lead to fair and reasonable outcomes across one or more hospitals. Tracks and monitors hospital trends and develops a hospital-specific employee relations strategy that promotes a healthy and inclusive culture.
- Implements and monitors the vision/mission of the organization into actionable plans and expected outcomes, takes necessary steps to ensure expected outcomes.
- In partnership with AVP-HR, Labor Relations Manager, Senior Leadership Team, and internal counsel, negotiates and administers collective bargaining agreements, oversees dispute resolution, including grievances, arbitrations, and strikes. Responsible and authorized to act as SME on CBA interpretation. Ensures CBA compliance by management and labor, including policies and procedures. Oversees management training and communications. Responsible for monitoring vulnerable groups, ensuring a positive culture with fair and equitable treatment of employees, market competitive pay and proper staffing.

- Performs other duties as requested.
- Bachelors degree in human resources, business, organizational development, industrial/organizational psychology or other related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Human Resources Management roles. At least 3 years managing teams preferred.
- A strong team player who supports their team and embraces ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the teams work.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred.
- SPHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
