Summary:

 

The intern pharmacist would assist the full-time pharmacy staff during times of pharmacist PTO, as an intern may perform many of the functions of a pharmacist while under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

 

1. Filling prescriptions.

2. Patient counseling.

3. Answering patient inquiries.

4. Answering drug information requests from providers.

5. Obtaining prior authorizations.

6. Consulting prescribers about prescription problems.

7. Ensuring proper billing of prescriptions.

8. Performing medication therapy management.

9. Maintaining drug inventory.

10. Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.

11. Ordering medications from wholesalers.

12. Consulting drug references for information.

Required:

  • At least 2 years of college, and must be enrolled in, or graduated from, an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy and be eligible for licensure as a pharmacy intern under CT law.
  • Must be a registered pharmacy intern with the CT Department of Consumer Protection.
  • Must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacy intern under CT law.
