We are seeking to appoint an experienced and knowledgeable Field Application Engineer to provide on-site technical support to our valued customers in respect of the application of our labels onto the customer’s primary packaging. 


The Role 


In this exciting and varied role, you will provide hands-on support and assistance to our customers, ensuring our products meet their performance and application expectations. 


Visiting our customers manufacturing facilities to provide on site support is a major function of the role, therefore you must be willing to undertake national and international travel on a frequent basis.  Evaluating and understanding the customers process and equipment and compiling line audit reports and communication documents is common practice.  You will provide troubleshooting support, line efficiency recommendations, fault-finding expertise and operator training to the customer’s operational workforce 


You will work collaboratively with technically skilled colleagues, making recommendations for new projects, developing fit-for-purpose technical drawings, based upon your knowledge of the product, material and application line capabilities.  


The Person 


To succeed in this role you will be educated to a minimum of HNC level, or equivalent, in a mechanical/electrical engineering discipline and have several years prior working knowledge of application technology, principles and techniques in a similar role.    You will possess excellent computer skills (i.e. MS Office) and it would be advantageous for you to have knowledge of 2D AutoCAD.  You will have a strong health & safety ideology, keeping the safety of yourself and others as your first priority. 


You will be adept at dealing with and communicating with all levels within a customer organisation, from production operators right up to Director level.  You will also be experienced with report writing, being able to concisely and accurately make your point in a logical and understandable way, both internally to various departments and also back to the customer. 


Flexibility is a key aspect of the role, being able to change plans to travel to a customer to assist with a technical issue at short notice, for example.  You will also be comfortable with late night and early starts to both meet the requirements of travel plans and customer’s operating hours.  It would be advantageous if you lived near a major airport with good national and internal connections. 


Additional Information 


To apply for this role you must already have the right to live and work in the UK/Europe and have the ability to travel unrestricted both within the UK and Europe, as well as internationally.  Visa sponsorship is not provided.  You must be able to travel at short notice and for unknown durations. 


This role will be based at either our Hann Munden, Germany site or our Cwmbran, UK site.
