Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) has a job opportunity for a Process Safety Engineer. This position is responsible for coordinating and promoting all plant level environmental, health and safety programs for the Multi-Color Corporation in the facility or facilities under the scope of the specific role.  This role will be responsible for supporting the EHS function and programs at the Leamington, ON facility. This position will promote the EHS culture to ensure legal compliance with all environmental, health, safety, OSHA, and EPA laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Environment Leader (70%)/ Process Engineer (30%)
  • Timely and effective engineering response to process and product issues on all manufacturing lines.
  • Lead manufacturing continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintaining close operating relationships with Operations and QA personnel to support the manufacturing goals.
  • Strategic planning of raw material and finished good movements from external warehouse to the manufacturing facility.
  • Optimize process parameters for manufacturing equipment, including HMI / PLC standard settings.
  • Oversee and participate implementation of 5S process.
  • Identify new capital investment requirements with ROI calculation.
  • Provide recommendations for improved layouts in plants using AutoCAD.
  • Lead and participate on kaizens teams related to production process, H&S and environment.
  • Support production where needed including transfers of business to sister sites or external resources. 
  • Input, track maintenance work orders and spend by work center.
  • Help maintain organization in the sheeter warehouse.
  • Participate in the onboarding process.
  • Conduct monthly workplace safety and environmental inspections (plant and external warehouse)
  • Conduct monthly JHSC meetings and ensure follow- thru with any outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate H&S and environmental training (determine the training needs – schedule training throughout the year).
  • Ensure facility is in compliance with all governments/company requirements, adjust as needed when required.
  • Assist in Lost Time / Recordable Incident investigations and follow-up.
  • Manages and train associates on all departmental safety and environmental systems, all related work instructions, safety, environmental.
  • Oversee existing and new sustainability initiatives and projects.
  • Writes and maintains the documentation of the safety and environmental system processes and procedures, inspection and procedures.
  • Maintains ISO 45001 certification, prepares and leads annual audits.
  • Manage daily task requirements.
  • All other duties, tasks, assignments as per management directions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must take responsibility and ownership for their own performance and accept challenging goals.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety, Environmental legislative requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Troubleshooting ability is required.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to multitask.
  • Occasionally travels as necessary.
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and straightforward written instructions.
  • Must be organized, attention to detail and able to work in a fast-paced environment, independently.
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving with multiple variables. Must understand when to involve supervision in the problem solving process.
  • Wear required PPE in the production areas and follow all safety protocols.
  • Preferred Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited engineering program and or minimum 5 years work experience
  • Advanced understanding of lean manufacturing methods
  • Advanced understanding of  EHS Management systems.
