The Variety Meats Manager will lead the Variety Meats Team to maximize the total product value of variety meats for both the Fed and Regional Beef Businesses.  Use all tools to provide direction, such as sales variance reports, production reports, claims reports, market forecasts, current position reports, and historical data. Continually optimize the customer base by analyzing customer margins to shift volumes toward more profitable accounts and new accounts.

Responsibilities: 

  • Drive the Fed and Regional Beef inside sales, outside sales, and international sales teams to achieve sales margin and product mix targets
  • Manage the Variety Meats team including pricing and product managers
  • Develop pricing and sales strategies to maximize category revenue and customer service while minimizing inventory
  • Coordinate with scheduling, logistics, and operations to forecast accurate product availability to sales
  • Develop new products in coordination with sales and operations teams to increase category margins, in response to customer needs and market demands
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools in conjunction with finance and accounting groups to measure overall category performance and return on targeted projects
  • Build relationships with existing customers, develop new customers, and grow demand across domestic and international markets for beef variety meats
  • Provide feedback on market conditions to peers
  • Identify growth opportunities though the leverage of existing customers in conjunction with other category managers
  • Maintain a staff development program to ensure the Variety Meats business has a good spread of suitably experienced members and is developing talent
  • Monitor performance against budgets on a regular basis, and assess resource allocations required for business needs
  • Budget responsibility for variety meats category in Fed and Regional Beef Business Units
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Preferred 5 years’ experience in the beef industry and 3 years of management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Advance Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel.
  • QlikView experience preferred.
  • Works closely with BU leadership, scheduling, production and business analysis departments.
  • Manage Key Customer Relationships.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $120,000 - $140,000; and
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
