Job Title: Assistant Controller

Location: Omaha

Reporting to: Plant Controller

Purpose and Scope/General Summary:

The JBS Regional Beef team is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Omaha plant.

This role will lead the financial accounting functions at the plant.  This includes weekly and monthly financial reporting, cattle accounting, accounts payable, yields and payroll processing.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the financial accounting team at the plant.   Supervise and motivate staff to ensure successful completion of accounting duties and reports.
• Lead the cattle accounting process – from daily cattle payments through weekly and monthly reconciliations.
• Lead the payroll processing team.
• Report weekly results of expenses and P&L performance.
• Assists in month end close, performs month end account reconciliation and journal entries.
• Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to SOX and internal policies.
• Collaborate with cross functional departments to problem solve and establish procedures and action plans to achieve targeted results.
• Other accounting duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 3 years accounting experience or equivalent knowledge & ability
• Computer skills and good people skills a must
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Through knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Prior Meat Cost Accounting experience desired
