Practice Summary: 
Media Planning are experts on the paid media landscape and how consumers interact with it. We architect and steward holistic media plans throughout their lifecycle, owning the creation of overall plans, cross-channel budget allocation, in flight cross-channel optimisation & reporting and post-campaign analysis. We are our clients’ key contacts for a unified view across all aspects of their campaigns, narrating the story of the campaign from planning recommendation through to PCA or QBR. 
Position Summary: 
The Media Planning Manager for this pod will work across two key areas of Google’s business - Brand and Rep. This year will cover some extremely exciting priorities across AI, as well as the browser space across multiple markets. These initiatives consist of integrated brand campaigns, working closely with the wider pod including the DR team as we look to approach the full marketing funnel together. The Planning Manager is responsible for working hand-in-hand with Activation to ensure client budgets are used optimally via effective planning, in-flight cross-channel optimisations and insightful post campaign analysis to inform future campaigns. They support senior team members on the day-to-day management of media plans and their proper implementation, working to fulfill agreed media objectives in the context of changing market conditions. They demonstrate strong working knowledge of the overall media landscape and available research, using these to inform planning recommendations. 

About the role / Some of the things we’d like you to do: 
  • Support the Directors to manage tasks within the team, working more independently on smaller campaigns and liaising closely on larger projects. 
  • Conduct audience research to determine and support planning recommendations 
  • Allocate budget appropriately between channels. 
  • Ensure previous campaign learnings, and channel best practices are rolled out. 
  • Support senior media planners and Activation with forecasting requests and work with them to analyze the accuracy and actualise previous campaign data.   
  • Contribute to clear briefs to Activation and collaborative sessions to deliver these. 
  • Evaluate responses from the Activation and investment teams and work with them to finalize channel and publisher selections and budgets. 
  • Own the overall plan (as shared with clients) and the Olive plan 
  • Maintain the testing plans and supporting material. 
  • Own the delivery of integrated campaigns from briefing through to end of campaign reporting.  
  • Create and manage cross-channel reporting templates during the campaign. 
  • Collate and develop insights and recommendations based on campaign performance. 
  • Take responsibility for the collaboration and delivery of creative specs. 
  • Meet with relevant vendors and have a relevant point of view on their offering. 
  • Contribute to case studies that can be shared internally as learning and best practice. 
  • When relevant, train and manage your direct reports to deliver high quality of output. 

About yourself / Requirements:  

  • Basic spreadsheet capability (VLOOKUP, Pivot Table) are a must. 
  • Superior presentation design skills, in slides or document format. 
  • Understanding of industry standard media research tools (e.g. Comscore, GWI, TGI, YouGov). 
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, with the desire to learn and advance. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail and ability to quality control work. 
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines. 
  • Superb client relationship and management skills. 
  • Proven problem solving and decision making skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team environment. 
  • Skilled in quantitative reasoning. 
  • Experience with planning activity for emerging markets is beneficial 

Management Responsibility 
  • Motivate junior team members, leading by example while teaching new skills. 
  • Provide timely and actionable feedback to aid in team development and improvement. 
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the team. 
  • Understand when to escalate issues to managers.
