Envision yourself at Barracuda

As a data steward you will be performing data analysis on large datasets and be a champion for data quality and governance within the organization. You will help enhance data collection and storage procedures, prepare data analysis reports, define/enforce policies and procedures for data access and privacy. In this role, you will work closely with data engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, product owners and other stakeholders to enable data-driven product-led growth activities across the organization. As a critical member of the team, your work will positively impact top-line growth for the company.

What you’ll be working on

  • Define and implement policies and procedures for governance and oversight of data assets, its lifecycle and use across the organization
  • Establish data quality standards and actively monitor relevant metrics, review trends in data. Document and report on data quality findings to key stakeholders on a regular basis. Determine root cause for data quality errors, and make recommendations/implement corrective measures
  • Establish guidelines and controls that govern the collection, transport, transformation, and storage of data to ensure compliance and security
  • Onboard new datasets. Classify and catalog data assets across the organization and report on it's use
  • Be a catalyst and drive action across the organization by establishing best practices and being the subject matter expert on managing data assets

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or similar with 3+ years of experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and tests
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to drive cross-team collaboration and work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Power BI or Tableau, and Excel 
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases and ETL pipelines
  • Experience with Spark, Databricks, and EMR is a plus
  • Knowledge of AWS technologies is a plus
