Envision yourself at Barracuda      
Barracuda is looking for a creative, results-driven and self-motivated PR professional with a good understanding of the technology and cybersecurity landscape and international organizations, to own and drive media coverage for Barracuda Networks Inc in the APAC region – specifically, ANZ, India, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. This is a remote role based out of Melbourne, Australia    
As the PR Manager for the APAC region, you will play a key role in helping the company to promote its expertise, products and spokespeople; and establish and extend its position as an influential and trusted voice in the cybersecurity space.      
What you’ll be working on      
In this role, you will manage a network of established local PR agencies and report into the PR and Communications Director for International, based in Europe. You will have day-to-day interaction with a wide variety of cross-functional team members across the region and globally. Your key local stakeholders will be country managers and marketing teams.  – while at a global level you will be part of, and supported by a small, proactive PR team headquartered in California in the U.S      
Primary Responsibilities:      
  • Work with and manage a network of local PR agencies to maximize media exposure for Barracuda through planned, targeted, measurable programs
  • Manage and prep senior regional spokespeople to improve media engagement and share key opinions and talking points
  • Work with local leadership and experts to write external positioning, articles, press releases, pitch content, talking points
  • Develop relationships with journalists and help promote to them the company’s messages, latest news and developments, and vision, using social media and events.
  • Manage awards calendar, press release calendar and activity calendar
  • Working with regional marketing colleagues across the region to coordinate and lead PR for product launches, research and other global and local initiatives
  • Engage with PR agencies to compile feedback for teams within Barracuda and develop ideas for new content
  • Measure and report on media engagement and success and proactively suggest projects and strategies for continual program improvement
  • Compose and edit press releases, byline articles, blogs etc. for internal and external use
  • Work with the global communications team to help manage Barracuda’s presence on a variety of social channels, plus local social media channels as well as monitoring engagement with key audiences and working across the company to source and curate timely, relevant content
  • Help mine and create news stories and contributed article topics/blog content, above and beyond the press release cycle
  • Attend/manage a regular programme of meetings with regional stake holders
What you bring to the role      
The right individual should have a solid grasp of present-day written and digital communications techniques. This person must be familiar and comfortable with current market trends facing IT organizations and understand the importance of IT security. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate an understanding of the media landscape across multiple countries in the region, particularly Australia, India, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.      
  • 6 years of professional communications experience with a mid- to large-size company – agency experience and experience of working for an international company a plus. B2B, high-tech industry experience preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated individual who enjoys working under limited supervision
  • Creative storyteller with strong written, editing and oral communication skills
  • Passionate, creative thinker who is proactive in driving new initiatives
  • Attention to detail with ability to meet tight timelines and maintaining a positive attitude
  • Experience leveraging social media as part of an integrated communications program   
  • Proven track record of success developing and executing communication strategies that drive results
  • Excellent IT and business media relations skills
  • Tenacious problem solver with a strong work ethic, sense of urgency and desire to succeed
  • Strong judgment with ability to respond quickly, yet thoughtfully, to urgent PR matters
  • Education: Possess a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or related field of study is highly desired
