We are seeking a Claims & Deductions Coordinator for our Pork Division.  The Coordinator responds to notifications of discrepancies reported by customers, truck lines, plant personnel, sales, field reps, customer service, etc. These notifications may be in regards to product integrity, quality, damage and/or count discrepancies. It is the role of the Claim Investigator to act as mediator between the outside parties and internal personnel to resolve issues in an efficient and effective manner while being able to sustain good relationships with all parties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service
  • Answer calls and respond to emails on any discrepancies quickly.
  • Ability to learn the process, know the process and make decisions to mitigate losses quickly.
  • Assist co-workers, extremely organized and ability to multitask.
  • Investigate the cause of claims (transportation, plant, sales, customer error etc.)
  • Acquire required documentation needed to determine liability quickly.
  • Review legal documentation and determine if the parties involved have provided the required information to process a claim.
  • Enter claims in SAP to be processed, work in excel (using pivot tables and formulas), office suite, Order Management and a variety of other programs.
  • Responsible for gathering data and relaying it to sales teams to problem solve for customer accounts.
  • Keep detailed records and accounts of all claims, deductions and DSO.
  • Develop conclusions to give recommendations on claims as a result of trend analysis.
  • Utilize extensive formulas in excel to evaluate opportunities for customer improvement on payments.
  • Present data and recommendations to executive team.
  • Work and learn new business areas as needed to improve customer payments.
  • Sees all projects through to completion even when outside the scope of the department.
  • Understands cash application processes in order to assist customer accounts.
  • Communicate the JBS guidelines to appropriate parties.
  • Keep detailed records and accounts of all claims, deductions and DSO.
  • Self-driven to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Ability to process all claims and deductions in designated time frames.
  • Comprehensive data analysis through reporting.
  • Maintain customer DSO under specific time frame.
  • Review carrier documentation and decide if they have fulfilled their contractual requirements.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
  • Excellent and professional: phone, computer, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Prior experience handling customer accounts as i.e.; accounts receivables, claims, deductions and DSO.
  • Motivated team player.
