Position Title:Production Superintendent

Department:Operations

Location:Greeley, CO Value Added Plant

Oversee all operations that occur within the Value Added & Marinade.

Responsibilities:

  • Make sure products produced in area are of the highest quality
  • Insure ground beef department is profitable
  • Attempt to motivate supervisors so that they will perform their jobs to the best of their abilities
  • Oversees efficiency of monitoring production, scanning make sheet, and discussing daily goals with Supervisors.
  • Directs supervisors with respect to production volume, quality, cost and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
  • Insure company safety programs are implemented
  • Attempt to rich all goals that were pre-specified for the area
  • Monitor expenses in area
  • Oversee equipment in area to insure it is running correctly
  • Walk through pre-operational procedures before the start of each shift
  • Act as a liaison between plant management and supervisors
  • Decide at which speed level the chain in the area will run as determined by production needs and available staff in area
  • Monitor supervisors' labor reports for accuracy
  • Ensure area is properly sanitized
  • Attempt to minimize downtime and overtime pay
  • Run daily meetings for supervisors
  • Attend and give input at daily plant meetings
  • Directly involved in hiring new supervisors in area
  • Directly responsible for training new supervisors in area
  • Maintains good employee relations and adherence to labor contract provisions.
  • Perform annual evaluations for management personnel in area
  • Good understanding of continuous improvement production techniques and use the tools to deliver improved performance.
  • Directly involved in disciplinary procedures in area. These may range from verbal warnings to terminations

Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal relations; ability to handle conflict.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a group
  • Manage individual employee objectives as well as team performance and building a team approach to problem solving

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education; A college degree in Business Management or related field or Meat/Food Science is preferred (Experience will be considered in lieu of education)
  • Experience: 3+ years proven supervisory experience in the food industry/manufacturing; industry-specific experience encouraged
    • Experience working in a food-manufacturing environment applying common processes, procedures and equipment. Experience managing in a chilled food manufacturing business preferred.
    • Must have a good understanding of continuous improvement production techniques and use the tools to deliver improved performance.
  • Knowledge of all operations in the ground beef department

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $80-95K
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program
