Job Title: Medical Assistant – Mobile Medication Services

Program(s): All

State: Pennsylvania

Population Served: Adults

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor or Program Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

 

 

SUMMARY

 

This role supports the delivery of medication-assisted treatment and other healthcare services directly to patients in community settings. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a mobile environment, collaborating with clinical staff, and engaging with diverse populations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assists with the administration of medications under the supervision of licensed clinical staff

 

  • Perform basic clinical tasks including vital signs, specimen collection, and documentation.

 

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) and medication logs.

 

  • Support patient engagement and education on medication adherence and health practices.

 

  • Ensure mobile unit is stocked, clean, and compliant with safety and infection control protocols.

 

  • Coordinate with pharmacies, providers, and case managers as needed.

 

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with the Medical Assistant position; however, this person may serve as a coach and mentor for similar positions.

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

 

  • The duties of this job require fine motor skills to write neat, legible notes, read and understand program documentation, and completing keyboarding entry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

 

  • The work environment for this position varies between community-based settings.  Employees are expected to support individuals both in their homes as well as in the community.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

TRAVEL

 

  • This position requires travel between various residential and office locations.  A person in this position may be required to operate company vehicles to transport individuals on outings and/or to and from medical appointments.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

 

  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel within the service area.

 

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

 

  • Experience with behavioral health or substance use treatment is a plus

 

  • Lived experience using psychotropic medications preferred

 

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

 

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

 

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a mobile team

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and instructions. Can showcase the ability to read and understand commonly accepted medical shorthand and jargon.  Shows the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Consistently show ability to clearly explain instructions in both written and oral media to non-medical staff members.

 

  • Mathematical Skills

Basic mathematic ability includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 

 

  • Reasoning Ability

Ability to read instructional memos and/or participate in training sessions then translate information provided into day-to-day work duties.
