About the Role
The Family Engagement Specialist (FES) provides extensive family finding efforts for the purpose of establishing family and fictive kin connections and placements for eligible youth in congregate care referred by the Department of Child Safety (DCS). The Fostering Sustainable Connections (FSC) Program utilizes the Family Finding Strategy to increase the number of family-like settings for youth in congregate care. The FES delivers all elements of the FSC Program in accordance with the Arizona Department of Child Safety FSC Program Manual and works collaboratively with youth and their teams for a duration of 180 days, with the potential for 90-day extensions. This role requires approximately 60% travel throughout assigned counties.

Responsibilities
Accept referred families from FES Supervisor
Deliver all elements of the Fostering Sustainable Connections (FSC) Program in accordance with the Arizona Department of Child Safety FSC Program Manual
Conduct Discovery and Engagement, Blended Perspectives Meetings, and Team Decision Meetings as outlined in the FSC Program Manual
Meet with youth and their teams according to timelines established in the FSC Scope of Work and Program Manual
Provide culturally relevant, linguistically appropriate, and gender-responsive services, including LGBTQ-inclusive practices
Maintain an average caseload of fifteen (15) youth
Report any abuse or neglect while the case is open and submit Incident Reports to required parties
Complete client documentation in the agency database according to contract deadlines
Attend and complete a minimum of 15 hours of job-related training as required by the FSC Program Manual
Ensure the safety, health, and welfare of staff and clients at all times
Model and uphold all program norms and expectations
Act as a positive role model and mentor for youth and their supports
Attend and participate in required meetings, including individual and monthly group supervision
Travel approximately 60% throughout assigned counties

Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Social Work and one (1) year of experience in social work or related field
Minimum age requirement of 18 years
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
Must pass DCS Clearance with no substantiated reports
Ability to pass criminal background clearance check, drug screen, and physical exam if required
Current Arizona State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record for past five (5) years
Must meet safe driver requirements, including no DWI/DUI within contract life or past five (5) years; no at-fault accidents within contract life or past five (5) years; no more than two (2) moving violations within contract life or past five (5) years; no more than one (1) excessive speed violation within contract life or past five (5) years
Personal vehicle liability insurance and vehicle registration as required
Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification
Strong knowledge of the Fostering Sustainable Connections process and Family Finding Strategy
Ability to instruct clients in child development, home management, personal problem solving, accessing community services, domestic violence supports, appropriate discipline, childcare techniques, and age-appropriate parenting skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information individually and in group settings
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
Ability to assess unique situations and develop effective strategies to meet child and family needs

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
