Summary:
Position is responsible for activities of Cancer Center at each site for Nuvance East. Responsible for assessment of programmatic needs and implementation of programs to meet needs; Quality management and performance improvement. Operational and financial management. Position will assist in implementation of strategic and tactical plans to maximize the effectiveness of Cancer Services and maintain competitive in the market place. Individual is able to influence and lead a diverse group of people, including physicians in partnership with the Cancer Institute leadership under Nuvance Health's culture.
Responsibilities:
1. Leads and participates in strategic and Program Planning, Development and Management. Responsible for assessment of programmatic needs, implementation of program activities and initiatives with work relationships with internal/external stakeholders/partners. Role includes oversight of the cancer program, the associated medical practices in collaboration with the Nuvance Health Medical Practice, VP of the Cancer Institute and the Chair of the Cancer Institute (medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology).
2. Identifies new opportunities. Develop multidisciplinary programs. Includes Network Disease Site Programs. Establishes methods to solicit patient/provider feedback. Directs clinical and operational oversight of multiply programs.
3. Cultivates and maintains, identifies and/or evaluates business opportunities/collaborative relationships to advance vision and goals of the Cancer Program.
4. Establishes annual goals and objectives. Collaborates with Marketing and Planning Departments, participates in Market Analysis and assists in design and implementation of the marketing plan. Assumes responsibility for a centralized Network Function.
5. Coordinates Quality initiatives & patient care coordination in the Network. Manages all Cancer Program Accreditations. Includes development. Monitors quality oversight dashboards & initiatives for accreditations.
6. Supports use of evidence-based guidelines. Identifies, establishes, audits, monitors & recommends changes in practices & quality metrics. Assess all services, operations and procedures for quality improvement opportunities; implements actions.
7. Develops capital and operating budgets. Develops policies and procedures. Ensures compliance in key program areas for the cancer program and nursing oversight. Directs process and productivity improvements.
8. Manages, direct sand oversees programs and associated staff in the region and at each hospital.
9. Completes key initiatives for business plans. Manages site integration changes, as applicable, for Network Sites. This includes ownership and direction of programs such as, but not limited to navigation, cancer genetics, the cancer registry and accreditation as examples, in seamless collaboration with the Director Oncology West.
10. Works with IT to develop, implement and maintain information systems that optimally reflect programmatic needs of the Cancer Center. Ensures compliance with Hospital Policies and Practices, State and JC standards.
11. Monitors performance and development of direct reports. Ensures appropriate staffing based on productivity and staff competency. Ensures awareness/adherence to Hospital and Departmental Polices.
12. Ensures appropriate performance and documentation of new employees, competencies and education. Hires, counsels, promotes and disciplines as appropriate.
13. Evaluates and attends community based programs based on goals and objectives of the program. Assist with Foundation fund raising and donor relationships.
14. Performs a key role in the Quality Process with oversight among physician practices and integration with the Cancer Center. Works with directors and managers within Cancer program.
15. Provides oversight for site specific Accreditations (CoC, NAPBC, etc.) and collaborates with community organizations (ie: American Cancer Society).
16. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
17. Models and Maintains Nuvance Health values.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
