Nursing Technician (p/t)- E.D. - Day/Eve
Description
Rotating 0700-1530, 0900-1730, or 1500-2330, all other weekends and holidays
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and a Certified Nursing Assistant or a licensed EMT in the State of Connecticut.
Summary:
To provides nursing care to a patient or group of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Prioritizes assignments in consultation with the RN; Performs procedures as identified by the Skills Checklist ie, splinting, EKGs and wound care. Refers to and utilizes appropriate resources. Responds promptly to patient care needs; Maintains a safe patient environment incorporating Norwalk Hospital Policies and Procedures; Self-directed, offers assistance with unit needs, and cover other team members as needed.
- Communicates with patients, visitors and coworkers within the scope of his/her responsibilities in a courteous manner; Observes and reports to Registered Nurse all changes in patient condition, observations or occurrences of an unusual nature in a clear and concise manner; Documents accurately patient data on appropriate forms i.e., ED Flow Sheet; Obtains information necessary to carry out patient care assignment, for example: report and/or active order profile sheets.
3. Demonstrates compliance with identified policies and procedures in carrying out unit assignments i.e., stocking, equipment Maintenace. Follows mini-protocols. Maintains computer skills i.e., Eclipys and Cerner, enters orders/patient charges and Emerge data; Demonstrates willingness to assist with and improve unit operations; Maintains neat and orderly appearance and environment; Completes all competencies and annual requirements as established by the ED Management team, i.e., EKGs, Point of Care Testing, restraints/Code Green and utilizes awareness of Least Restrictive Measures. Maintains personal Educational Record.
4. Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost efficient and proper manner i.e.., stocking and Maintenace of equipment; Reports problems with supplies and equipment to appropriate personnel for corrective action; Maintains supplies as per established par levels in the ED and Express Care.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
6. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
