What we offer

The Builder oversees the timely construction of each home from carpentry to warranty service request signoff. Reporting to the Senior Builder, the Builder is responsible for producing zero defect homes through effective management of trades, inspectors, suppliers and staff. The Builder acts as the primary representative of the company on construction matters to homeowners and maintains an aesthetically appealing, safe worksite and professional and efficient work environment.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the full construction cycle of assigned homes—from framing through to 30-day warranty—ensuring homes are delivered on time, to quality standards, and in line with homeowner commitments.
  • Follow Mattamy construction processes, policies, and quality standards, taking action to address any gaps or deficiencies.
  • Oversee day-to-day site activity, ensuring trades are on schedule, delivering quality work, and completing tasks as expected.
  • Walk homes daily to identify deficiencies, ensure Building Code compliance, and confirm all homeowner options and upgrades are completed accurately.
  • Complete detailed frame checks prior to drywall and follow up to ensure all items are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Schedule and lead homeowner frame walks, providing a positive and professional experience.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of trades, suppliers, and inspections to keep construction progressing smoothly.
  • Identify and resolve issues on site, ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications, and Mattamy standards.
  • Review and approve trade work for quality and completion prior to issuing sign-offs.
  • Support material ordering and ensure required materials are available to avoid delays.
  • Maintain and update the production schedule on a regular basis, highlighting risks, changes, and progress to the Senior Builder.
  • Work closely with internal teams (site and head office) to support overall production and communication.
  • Schedule and attend municipal inspections, addressing any deficiencies as required.
  • Lead by example in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized job site, reinforcing Mattamy’s commitment to safety and quality.
  • Support the development of team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and reinforcing expectations.

What you bring

  • Must Have
    • 4+ years of experience managing residential construction in the low-rise new home industry.
    • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and site safety practices.
    • Proven ability to manage schedules, coordinate trades, and deliver homes on time and to quality standards.
    • Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building methods across all trades.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; able to track progress, manage priorities, and follow through.
    • Confident communicator who can build effective working relationships with trades, suppliers, internal teams, and homeowners.
    • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering a positive homeowner experience.
    • Takes ownership and accountability for results on site.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily between job sites.
  • Nice to Have
    • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Construction Engineering Technology).
    • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members on site.
    • Working knowledge of cost tracking and budget management.
    • Experience using BuildPro or similar construction/ERP systems.
    • Previous experience working within a production builder environment.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.

 

You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy’s annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
