This is an opportunity to make a visible impact on how sustainability decisions are made across Mattamy’s GTA business. As a key member of the Sustainability team, you will turn complex carbon and performance data into clear insights that influence projects, programs and business priorities across low-rise and multi-storey operations. You will have exposure to a broad range of teams, emerging technologies and innovative building initiatives, while building your expertise in sustainability analytics, reporting automation and program delivery within a growing area of the business.
Regular presence is required in both our Mississauga and Etobicoke offices and at project sites across the GTA. Time is generally split approximately 40% Mississauga, 40% Etobicoke, and 20% on site.
What you’ll do
- Collect, validate and analyze sustainability data across GTA Division projects, helping maintain consistent and reliable metrics.
- Coordinate GTA sustainability reporting processes and maintain and enhance dashboards, databases, scorecards and recurring reports, including automated workflows using Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI.
- Support carbon forecasting and accounting with Finance; analyze operational and embodied carbon data, complete scenario modelling, and assess the carbon impacts of new products, technologies and development initiatives to identify potential reduction opportunities.
- Apply data governance, quality-control and reporting protocols, and assist with annual sustainability reporting, carbon audits and data verification.
- Coordinate assigned sustainability initiatives, track milestones and prepare updates for energy efficiency, electrification, airtightness, geothermal and low-carbon community programs.
- Work with Construction, Development, Architecture, Procurement, Finance, Warranty, Sales & Marketing and Corporate Sustainability to gather data and support reviews and pilot programs.
- Research EPDs, material sustainability information, emerging technologies, certifications, regulations and market trends; support competitor benchmarking, business case development and participation in industry working groups, research initiatives and innovation partnerships.
- Take a lead role in delivering the Sustainability Capstone program for co-op students across the GTA, including coordinating program activities and supporting participant learning and development.
- Support coordination with consultants, vendors, utilities and other external partners, and maintain reporting guides, training materials and data collection standards.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Building Science, Sustainability, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Statistics or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sustainability, ESG or environmental reporting, building science, energy management, data analytics or a related area.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, dashboard development and data modelling, plus experience building reports and visualizations in Power BI or a similar platform.
- Experience working with large datasets, completing statistical, trend and forecasting analyses, and following data governance and quality-control practices.
- Working knowledge of sustainability metrics, carbon accounting, environmental reporting, operational and embodied carbon, EPDs, energy performance measures and sustainability certification programs.
- Strong organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain data and findings to stakeholders and collaborate effectively across functions.
Bonus points
- Experience in residential development, homebuilding, construction, real estate or land development.
- Experience developing carbon models, sustainability forecasts or corporate sustainability reporting.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Tableau, VBA or other analytical tools.
- LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, WELL AP, Envision, GHG Inventory Quantifier or a comparable sustainability credential.
- Knowledge of geothermal systems, electrification strategies, energy modelling and utility programs.
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.
You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy’s annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
