Business Development Coordinator- TRIAL

King & Spalding, a leading global law firm, seeks a Business Development (BD) Coordinator to provide support related to marketing materials, pitches and RFPs, directory and award submissions, events, competitive intelligence research, marketing operations, and other business development and marketing activities as required for the Trial & Global Disputes (“TRIAL”) practice group. The group has more than 500 lawyers in 17 offices worldwide, with experience across a range of substantive areas, including Appellate Law, Class Action Defense, Commercial Litigation, Construction & Engineering Disputes, Corporate & Securities Litigation, E-Discovery, Insolvency Litigation, Insurance Coverage & Recovery, Intellectual Property, International Arbitration, Labor & Employment, Product Liability, Professional Liability, and Toxic & Environmental Torts. The group regularly receives top rankings in Chambers, Legal 500 and Law360.

The ideal candidate will be forward thinking, energetic, collaborative, proactive and detail oriented. She or he will have at least two years’ experience in a comparable role at a law firm or other professional services firm. The Business Development Coordinator will work alongside a small team of coordinators to provide support and regularly work with various business development managers and lawyers.

Candidates will have the following responsibilities:

  • Create dynamic presentations in PowerPoint and Word for practice area pitches and RFPs under the direction of lawyers and business development managers.
  • Compile and maintain marketing materials including PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets, content for the website, and other custom materials. Work with Branding and Design to apply brand standards and firm templates to projects. Routinely gather and centralize experience lists for use in pitches, proposals, submissions and other materials, including regularly updating key data such as trial wins and case trackers for experience database.
  • Coordinate with communications team and BD managers to compile information and draft submissions related to legal directories and awards, such as Chambers, Legal 500 and Law360.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications, including client alerts, newsletters, press releases and ads.
  • Develop a deep understanding of specialty area and industry group goals and clients and apply understanding of plans to support cross-sell initiatives and draft compelling content.
  • Work with events team to coordinate and provide support for K&S hosted events such as meetings, seminars, receptions, dinners, and other events. Provide support for sponsorships and coordinate all activities involved with sponsorship commitments.
  • Provide support and coordinate all activities involved with sponsorships such as processing payments, providing logos, shipping booths and materials, setting up booths, and ordering give-away items
  • Assist in the monitoring of BD-related activities, such as client targeting, and generate and distribute reports on progress.
  • Conduct research on competitors, industry or market trends to aid in the development of


Candidates must possess exemplary interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, excellent attention to detail, capability to self-start, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and the ability to incorporate feedback into their performance. Candidates must possess an intellectual curiosity and desire to learn about the issues key clients face and how our lawyers use creative solutions to help businesses navigate the litigation lifecycle. Due to the highly sensitive nature of many of our matters, the candidate must be able to be discreet and maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of marketing and business development-related activities is required. Bachelor's degree required. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.  2+ years of relevant legal business development/marketing experience strongly preferred.
