We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cloud Engineer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the configuration, security, stability, and performance of our virtual compute environment. This role is critical in maintaining the firm’s cloud-based systems by performing regular patching, updates, and proactive maintenance. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and implement a robust patch management strategy for all virtual servers to ensure they are protected from known vulnerabilities.
  • Perform regular system updates and patches in accordance with industry best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Work closely with the cybersecurity team to identify and mitigate potential security threats.
  • Collaborate with the IT operations team to ensure that backup and disaster recovery processes are in place and effective.
  • Provide technical guidance for the deployment of new applications and services within the cloud environment.
  • Document maintenance schedules, patches performed, and any changes made to the system configuration.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical issues.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and cloud service provider offerings to continually enhance the firm's cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role with a focus on compute maintenance and patch management.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud service providers, particularly Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with Windows Server and Linux platforms.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with server virtualization technologies and containerization.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure or Configuration as Code.
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and database management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are an advantage.
