Hiring Range: $24.94 – $30.55 Per Hour

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring an Adult Outpatient Engagement Specialist to assist clients with navigating entry and re-entry into services while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position is essential in supporting individuals by addressing barriers to treatment, providing education and resources, and helping clients connect with behavioral health services. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-engagement and engagement activities, including outreach calls, education, and problem-solving to support client participation in services.
  • Organize and facilitate the Connections Orientation (new client orientation) and follow up with clients who miss their appointments.
  • Provide direct outreach (phone and in-person) to engage clients who have not attended their scheduled sessions.
  • Act as a liaison between KMHS and community services, advocating for clients and addressing service barriers.
  • Assist clients in navigating transportation challenges, including setting up paratransit services or educating them on public transportation options.
  • Support clients transitioning from crisis stabilization services, ensuring smooth re-engagement into outpatient care.
  • Work closely with treatment teams to monitor and re-engage clients who are at risk of disengagement.
  • Facilitate motivational counseling, patient advocacy, and resource referrals to promote long-term engagement in care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and coordinate with Designated Crisis Responders when necessary.
  • Document all client interactions and engagement efforts in accordance with agency policies.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to assess engagement efforts and strategize re-engagement solutions.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field.

 

EXPERIENCE: Entry level (no prior related work experience)

 

This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must meet agency driving requirements, including meeting the minimum age requirement of 21 years old, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment.

The capacity to work well with children and families.

 

Performance Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including health care reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.
  2. Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.

 

SKILLS:

  1. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
  2. Communication Communicates clearly and concisely.
  3. Computer skills Ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.

  3. Able to assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.

 

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

 

Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.

 

Mental/Physical RequirementsWhile performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen.  Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
