Advanced-Level Hiring Range: $29.58 - $36.97 Per Hour
Entry-Level Hiring Range: $24.94 - $30.55 Per Hour

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Recreation Specialist to join our Adult Inpatient Unit team. This dynamic role focuses on developing and delivering engaging, therapeutic recreational and psychoeducational activities for adult clients in a secure inpatient setting. As a key member of our multidisciplinary care team, you will play a vital role in promoting recovery, stability, and wellness through structured, meaningful activities. Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, facilitate, and evaluate a variety of safe, therapeutic recreational and psychoeducational activities for clients in the Adult Inpatient Unit.
- Collaborate with treatment team members by participating in treatment planning meetings and case consultations.
- Lead structured educational and skill-building groups to support client recovery and engagement.
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and active participation of clients during all group and individual activities.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes and behavioral observations.
- Assist in the ongoing development of therapeutic programming to enhance client experience and outcomes.
- Respond appropriately to behavioral escalations and de-escalate situations using trauma-informed approaches.
Entry-Level Minimum Qualifications:
Education- Associates Degree in Human Services, Psychology or related field.
Experience- Minimum of three years of job-related experience.
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (can be obtained after hire).
Advanced-Level Minimum Qualifications:
Education-Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy.
Experience- Minimum of two years of job-related experience.
LICENSURE: Certified as a Recreation Therapist (CTRS), WA State Registered Recreation Therapist, Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (can be obtained after hire).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in residential or inpatient treatment setting.
Experience with new program development and implementation.
