Hiring Range: $28.89 - $35.61 Per Hour (includes WISe Differential)

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Behavioral Health Counselor to join our community-based Child & Family Wraparound Intensive Services (WISe) team. This position is vital in providing therapeutic and case management services to children and families utilizing evidence-based practices. If you are passionate about supporting youth with behavioral health needs in both home and community settings, and thrive in a collaborative, recovery-focused environment, we want to hear from you!
 


Primary Responsibilities: 
·               Provide therapeutic services using evidence-based models including STAY and RUBI for eligible youth and families. 
·               Deliver case management and outreach services in the home, school, and community settings. 
·               Collaborate with schools, agencies, and other providers to ensure quality, coordinated care. 
·               Participate in care planning meetings, including in-home and office-based team meetings. 
·               Educate and support families, advocating for client rights and preferences. 
·               Provide crisis intervention and partner with crisis responders as needed. 
·               Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes and safety plans. 
·               Facilitate therapeutic and recreational groups for youth and caregivers. 
·               Assist clients with accessing resources to meet basic needs and support autonomy. 
·               Coordinate substance use education and collaborate with internal and external providers. 
·               Support treatment planning with cross-system collaboration and natural support team building. 
  
Minimum Qualifications: 
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health or Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 3 years of job-related experience) 
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must meet agency driving requirements, including meeting the minimum age requirement of 21 years old, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation. 
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. 
  
Preferred Qualifications: 
EDUCATION: Enrollment in continuing education in pursuit of a master’s level degree in social services related field. 
EXPERIENCE: Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment. 
  
Performance Requirements: 
KNOWLEDGE: 
1.             Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including health care reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.
2.             Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.
3.             Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices
  
SKILLS: 
1.             Demonstrated skills in providing time-limited services to ensure caseload "flow." 
2.             Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
3.             Communication - Communicates clearly and concisely.
4.             Computer skills - The ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.

2.             Demonstrated ability to practice solution-focused, recovery-oriented brief therapy.
3.             Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed productivity standards.

5.             Able to assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.
  
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. 
  
Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods. 
  
Mental/Physical Requirements:  While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen.  Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
