Trainee Hiring Range: $24.94 - $30.55 per hour
Mental Health Professional Hiring Range: $32.53 - $40.67 per hour

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Co-occurring Disorders Mental Health Professional (MHP) or Trainee to provide integrated substance use disorder treatment and mental health support to clients. In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering direct counseling services, crisis intervention, and care coordination. Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Provide direct services in an ASAM Level 3.5 residential, co-occurring treatment program.  Services may include individual & family therapy, group therapy, psycho-educational workshops, recovery skill building groups, and crisis intervention.  Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to engage the people we serve who maintain ambivalence related to pursuing a healthy lifestyle.
  • Develop written treatment plans with integrated interventions to address issues across the health continuum, with emphasis on substance use disorders.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing, stages of change theory, harm reduction, stage-wise treatment strategies and other behavioral interventions as clinically indicated.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the unique presentation and needs of clients experiencing co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of medications used in the treatment of SUD (MAT/MOUD).
  • Provide crisis intervention services as indicated by assessment and treatment process. Recognize and intervene according to continuous assessment throughout the individual’s stay.
  • Document all clinical services thoroughly and accurately and submit all documentation in a timely manner per agency policy and contractual/WAC requirements.
  • Pursue professional growth and development by seeking out learning opportunities, coordinate with unit manager to share with team, and if approved, integrate into work practices.  Maintain working knowledge of current Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder treatment recommendations, trends in community mental health, including health care reform, electronic medical record, and computer technology.
  • Focus on teamwork, teambuilding, and the maintenance of a positive work atmosphere in order to best provide for the people we serve.

 

Trainee Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field and meeting the requirements for a WA State Certified Agency Affiliated Counselor (CAAC) or intern in a psychology, social services, or behavioral health master’s program.

 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience.

 

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (can be obtained after hire).

 

WA Food Worker Card (within 30 days of start)

 

MHP Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field or must meet waiver criteria of RCW 71.24.260.

 

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum of 2 years of job-related experience)

Two years of postgraduate, documented, supervised clinical experience with the chronically mentally ill, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse, substance related disorders, and emotionally disturbed clients.

 

LICENSURE: Must meet and maintain the definition of a Mental Health Professional as defined in RCW 71.05.020.

Performance Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE:

  1.                  Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including health care reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.
  2.                  Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.
  3.                  Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices

  1.                  Ability to work within an active, residential treatment milieu with demonstrated skills in providing time-limited services to ensure caseload "flow." 
  2.                  Utilize therapy approaches that encourage the development, monitoring, and completion of well-formulated treatment goals
  3.                  Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
  4.                  Communication - Communicates clearly and concisely.
  5.                  Computer skills - The ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

 

Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.

 

Mental/Physical Requirements: While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen.  Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
