Position Title:                    Human Resources Intern

Reports Directly to:         Human Resource Director
Nature of Position:          
The Human Resources Intern will support the HR department in a variety of administrative, operational, and project-based tasks. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, HR compliance, training coordination, and data management. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced, professional environment.
Essential Functions:

  • Assist with posting job openings on internal and external job boards
  • Screen resumes and help coordinate interviews
  • Support onboarding activities, including preparing new-hire packets and conducting orientation logistics
  • Maintain applicant tracking system data with accuracy
  • Update and maintain employee files in accordance with company policies
  • Support HR compliance efforts, including audits and documentation reviews
  • Assist with generating HR reports and tracking key metrics
  • Provide general administrative support such as scheduling, file management, and document creation
  • Support planning and coordination of employee engagement initiatives and events
  • Assist in organizing training sessions and tracking attendance
  • Help distribute employee communications, surveys, and announcements
Special Projects (Live Pork HR Focus)
The HR Intern will support several key projects designed to improve data organization, accessibility, and HR operational efficiency, including:
SharePoint Development & Organization
  • Create a centralized SharePoint folder containing all job descriptions for Live Pork
    • Collect job descriptions from HR and operational leaders
    • Ensure documents follow consistent naming conventions and version control
    • Organize content for easy retrieval by managers and employees
  • Develop a SharePoint folder with all HR forms used in Live Pork
    • Gather all forms in both standard (regular) format and fillable PDF format
    • Verify accuracy, current version, and form functionality
    • Establish a structure for ongoing updates and maintenance
  • Build a SharePoint library containing all Live Pork and Corporate HR policies and procedures
    • Compile relevant HR policies, SOPs, and guidelines from HR leadership
    • Organize documents into a clear, accessible hierarchy
    • Ensure files are properly labeled and reflect the latest approved versions

Job Qualifications:
  • REQUIRED:
    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn SharePoint structure and basic management
    • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity
    • Interest in developing a career in Human Resources
    • Experience working in an office environment
    • Familiarity with HRIS or applicant tracking systems
    • Basic knowledge of HR principles and employment law
    • Must have a valid driver’s license
 
  • PREFERRED:
    • Swine production knowledge
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
 
Working Conditions:
  • General climate-controlled office environment
  • Required to be able to operate all office equipment, sit for long periods with extended computer work sessions.
  • Temperature at work sites will vary depending upon season and location.
  • Exposure to various elements inherent with agriculture production
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
