We’re now seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist who is ready to help lead complex projects, mentor emerging talent, and play a visible role in shaping this growing Halifax-based team.
As a Senior Engineering Geologist, you will be a technical leader and trusted advisor, working across diverse projects that range and initiatives. You’ll combine scientific insight with practical judgment- translating subsurface conditions into sound engineering decisions.
You’ll also help define how GEI’s newly unified Halifax practice grows, collaborates, and delivers exceptional outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead and manage engineering geology assignments, including site characterization, slope stability, rock mechanics, , coastal geology and geohazard evaluations
- Provide technical oversight and peer review of geological and geotechnical investigations
- Interpret subsurface and geological data and deliver clear, defensible recommendations to clients and project teams
- Support proposal development, client engagement, and project planning
- Mentor and guide junior and intermediate staff, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration
- Partner closely with multidisciplinary teams across GEI’s Canadian offices
- Complete business development in Atlantic Canada, across Canada, and internationally in engineering geology and geo-hazards
What You Bring
- Degree in Geological Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Geoscience (Master’s considered a strong asset)
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in engineering geology or a closely related discipline
- Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. in Nova Scotia
- Proven experience delivering projects from investigation through construction support
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ground conditions with confidence
- A collaborative mindset and interest in helping grow a high-performing regional team
