We are currently looking for a Legal Advisor with a strong background in EU law and cross-border legal matters to join our growing legal team. In this role, you will support a wide range of legal activities, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment law, and other EU-specific legal issues. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, demanding international setting. You will play a key role in advising the business on legal risks and ensuring compliance with relevant EU and international legal frameworks.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Legal Research & Compliance: Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on EU laws and regulations, including corporate governance, competition law, GDPR, and other compliance-related matters.
  • Corporate & Employment Law: Advise on corporate structure, employment matters, and internal policies to ensure alignment with EU legislation and best practices.
  • Contract Drafting & Review: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, ensuring legal accuracy and compliance with EU standards.
  • Cross-Border Legal Support: Assist with legal issues related to international operations, including trade compliance, cross-border transactions, and dispute resolution.
  • Dispute Resolution & Risk Management: Support the resolution of legal disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation, and assist in identifying and mitigating legal risks.
  • Regulatory Filings & Reporting: Prepare and support regulatory submissions and ensure ongoing compliance with EU regulations, including data protection and competition law.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal departments, external counsel, and regulatory authorities to manage legal matters and ensure consistent communication.
  • Legal Administration & Case Management: Maintain organized legal records, track case timelines and regulatory deadlines, and support preparation for meetings, hearings, and legal reviews.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Legal Professional: Qualified lawyer with admission to practice in Latvia or another EU Member State.
  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in EU Law or an equivalent advanced legal qualification is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant legal experience, with a strong focus on corporate and employment law, and proven expertise in EU regulations and cross-border transactions.
  • Legal Expertise: Solid understanding of core EU legal frameworks, including competition law, data protection (GDPR), intellectual property, trade compliance, and employment law.
  • Regulatory Application: Strong ability to interpret and apply EU directives, regulations, and case law to practical business scenarios.
  • Legal Skills: Excellent legal research, drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with senior management, regulators, and external counsel.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Latvian and English (written and spoken at C1 level or higher) is required; knowledge of an additional EU language is an asset.
Desired Qualifications:
  • International Experience: Prior experience working with multinational companies or international law firms, ideally in a cross-border or EU regulatory context.
  • Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific legal issues - such as those in finance, technology, energy, defense, or aviation - that may affect corporate and employment law within the EU.
  • Dispute Resolution Exposure: Previous involvement in litigation, arbitration, or other forms of dispute resolution, particularly in matters governed by EU law.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary, international teams.
