We are rapidly growing our pool of extraordinary talent with an inspired group of enthusiastic, ambitious, and superiorly gifted front-end and back-end Software Developers, UX Designers, and Product Engineers.
Splunk’s IoT team is looking for candidates that want to do a deep dive in all facets of product development. You'll be getting your hands dirty with Python development on our custom IoT hardware, integrating IoT devices into our platform, developing software in embedded linux environment, working with Edge AI and finally rounding it out with some backend work. By the end of the term, we guarantee that you'll grow and become a more well-rounded individual with the expertise to build products from scratch!

What you'll get to do

  • You will design, develop, code and test software systems, or applications for software improvements and new products
  • You will actively contribute through participation in agile development of project timelines, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, documentation, testing, and ongoing support of systems
  • We will encourage you to live innovation by promoting and soliciting ideas within project teams

Must-have Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelors or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement
  • At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship
  • Available to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks

Nice-to-have Qualifications

We’ve taken special care to separate the must-have qualifications from the nice-to-haves. “Nice-to-have” means just that: Nice. To. Have. So, don’t worry if you can’t check off every box. We’re not hiring a list of bullet points–we’re interested in the whole you.
  • Knowledge of software engineering processes, agile framework, tools (e.g.: programming proficiency in a language, preferably Python), methods, test development, algorithms and data structures
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts, large-scale software architecture, networking and distributed systems, and UNIX/Linux environments
  • Experience working in Python
  • Exposure to working Embedded Systems.
  • Exposure to Linux development
  • Exposure to Front-end technologies such as React, and back-end technologies such as Spring Boot and Flask
  • Demonstrate competency and aptitude for Analytics, machine learning, AI, statistics, information retrieval, linguistic analysis
Our Splunktern Program allows incoming interns the flexibility to choose from three start/end dates, currently anticipated to be:
  • Monday, May 19, 2025 - Friday, August 8, 2025
  • Monday, June 2, 2025 - Friday, August 22, 2025
  • Monday, June 16, 2025 - Friday, September 5, 2025

Base Pay is based on a candidate completing 3 years of university or the academic equivalent

Base Pay

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay: $45 per hour

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay: $41 per hour

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay: $36 per hour

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills, year in school and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for benefits.
