ER Exam Room/Veterinary Assistant
The ER Exam Room/Veterinary Assistant performs a vital role in our practice, is responsible for assisting the Technicians and Client Service Representatives in providing supportive patient care and client service as well as maintaining a clean hospital environment. Candidate must have a compassionate, caring and understanding attitude. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist and follow directions of CSR supervisor, Lead Techs and Doctors.
- Safely retrain patients for examination, procedures and ultrasounds.
- Properly disconnect/reconnect patients from intravenous fluids.
- Be familiar with fluid pumps and troubleshooting alarms.
- Assist in setting up to take radiographs using proper safety precautions.
- Perform basic laboratory tests such as a CBC/CHEM/Lytes and PCV’s.
- Keep all areas, including reception, exam rooms, treatment sinks, floors, cages, etc. clean at all times.
- Load clients and patients into exam rooms.
- Answer phone as needed
- Maintain communication with CSR’s regarding patient care.
- Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule.
- Required shifts may be scheduled on nights, weekends, and holidays. You may be required to work beyond regularly scheduled shifts at times due to an unexpectedly heavy emergency caseload.
Experience & Technical skills:
* Credentials as a Veterinary Assistant.
* 1-2 years of clinical veterinary experience required
* Emergency experience highly preferred
* Ability to multi-task and work well with others.
* Accountable
* Self-motivated.
* Detail-oriented.
* Able to remain calm in stressful situations.
* Be capable of working on your feet for extended periods of time.

Compensation: $18-$21/hour depending on experience and skill set. Schedule: Full time - Morning and Swing Shifts. Must have a weekend day availability. Pet Emergency and Specialty - South County also offers the following shift differentials: 7pm-12am +$1.50/hour, 12am-7am +$2.00/hour, Saturday and Sunday +$1.00/hour.
