Required:
  • Certified Veterinary Technician-CVT

Ideal Candidates:  

  • Must have prior specialty anesthesia experience 
  • Be able to prepare the surgical suite for a surgical procedure.   
  • Be familiar with proper aseptic techniques in the surgical suite.   
  • Monitoring and maintaining anesthesia in surgical patients 
  • Monitoring the patient after it has been extubated, taking post-op temperatures, and heart rate, and making sure the patient is comfortable and pain-free.   
  • Assist with pack prep and instrument sterilization.  
  • Assist with pre-surgical diagnostics 
  • Obtain thorough patient histories
  • Communicate effectively with clients 
  • Leadership experience in a specialty surgery role required-2+ years
      • Interview Participation: 
        • Play an active role in the hiring process by sitting in on interviews with potential candidates within the department.
        • Key Responsibilities:  
          • Leadership: 
            • Lead by example, embodying the principles of servant leadership to support and empower team members. 
            • Foster a culture of collaboration, empathy, and shared responsibility within the veterinary department. 
          • Task Management: 
            • Maintain comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly checklists to organize and streamline departmental tasks. 
            • Monitor task completion, taking, proactive responsibility for ensuring all departmental responsibilities are fulfilled promptly and accurately. 
          • Scheduling and On-Call: 
            • Take charge of scheduling for the veterinary department, ensuring adequate coverage and orchestrating replacements in the case of call-offs. 
            • Act as the secondary point of contact for callouts, when in hospital and on the clock, managing replacements, and ensuring continuity of care. 
            • Ensure coverage of on-call shifts for the veterinary department, if applicable. 
          • Performance Reviews: 
            • Conduct monthly check-ins with each member of the department to assess individual performance, provide feedback, and address concerns. 
            • Collaborate with the technician managers for weekly check-ins, 90-day reviews, semi-annual performance evaluations and annual performance evaluations. 
          • Team Collaboration: 
            • Foster a collaborative environment through regular team support on the floor. 
            • Facilitate peer reviews, encouraging open communication and constructive feedback among team members. 
    Qualifications: 
      • Bachelor’s degree in veterinary science/ related field or equivalent 3-5 years of experience in the veterinary field. 
      • Proven leadership experience or demonstrated leadership qualities in a veterinary setting. 
      • Excellent organizational and communication skills. 
      • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
