** This position is hybrid and based in Austin, TX. Austin residency strongly preferred. Remote candidates may be considered if located in the U.S with proximity to a major airport offering direct flights to major cities coast to coast and willing to travel 50% to Austin. **
Job Summary:
Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Hospital Optimization to lead operational improvement initiatives across veterinary hospitals that are not performing to their full potential. This role will report to the VP of Hospital Operations and work closely with the Chief Operations Officer, and VP of Strategy and Transformation. The Director will be responsible for identifying high-priority turnaround opportunities, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and leading project management efforts to deliver impactful operational improvements and value creation.
Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Hospital Optimization to lead operational improvement initiatives across veterinary hospitals that are not performing to their full potential. This role will report to the VP of Hospital Operations and work closely with the Chief Operations Officer, and VP of Strategy and Transformation. The Director will be responsible for identifying high-priority turnaround opportunities, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and leading project management efforts to deliver impactful operational improvements and value creation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct quarterly assessments to determine hospitals with significant operational improvement potential, using data-driven insights and field feedback.
- Develop and execute comprehensive turnaround plans, including clear objectives, timelines, and performance metrics.
- Work in collaboration with hospital leadership, field teams, and cross-functional partners from Operations, Finance, People Operations, and Marketing to agree on improvement initiatives and ensure their successful implementation.
- Lead the PMO (Project Management Office) efforts for each turnaround project, ensuring milestones are met and risks are proactively managed.
- Regularly conduct progress reviews with hospital leaders and stakeholders, offering insightful analyses and actionable recommendations.
- Track performance improvements, report on results, and share best practices across the organization.
- Assist with broader value creation and operational excellence initiatives as needed.
Key Qualifications:
- A degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in operations, consulting, healthcare, or related sectors, with a proven history of successfully leading turnarounds, transformations, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent project management, organizational skills, and detail-oriented with a focus on results.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in healthcare or veterinary services is a plus.
