The Opportunity:
Responsibilities:
- Develop the Category Strategy and 4P Growth Plan: Define where to play and how to win for each category, aligning clear goals, KPIs, price architecture, promo calendar, assortment roadmap, and planogram principles into action.
- Turn Insight & Data into Action: Mine customer, POS, loyalty, data to spot opportunities, size the prize, and craft can’t-say-no stories that lead to decisive moves. Stay on the pulse of emerging trends, competitor moves and new launches and translate into differentiated category plays, innovation platforms, and product concepts that create a crave-worthy assortment.
- Innovation that Matters: Define and maintain a robust 2-year pipeline of new product concepts rooted in consumer insight, food trends, and whitespace opportunities- aligned to your category strategy and long-term brand growth plans.
- Product Lifecycle & Roadmap Management: Own the end-to-end product lifecycle- from ideation and development through launch, growth, and eventual delisting. Prioritize product features, platforms, and enhancements based on consumer value, business impact, and technical feasibility.
- Develop Positioning & Storytelling that Sells: Define product positioning, value proposition, and packaging direction in partnership with Brand Marketing to ensure consumer relevance and brand alignment. Deliver crisp weekly and period readouts to mobilize teams with clear next steps.
Qualifications:
- Education: University degree in Business, Marketing or a related field.
- Fluent with tools: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word; BI and visualisation tools are a plus.
- Consumer-obsessed category marketer and product thinker who turns insight into 4P plays, planograms, creative and promos that drive growth.
- Scrappy, entrepreneurial and highly creative with a bias for action - you prototype quickly, test and learn, rally partners, and turn constraints into momentum to make ideas real.
- Data-mining expert who turns complex customer, shopper, POS, loyalty, digital and space data into clear, persuasive stories and actionable 4P plans.
- Passionate about food and endlessly curious about evolving tastes, culinary trends and eating habits; comfortable sampling a wide range of foods, including items with meat, dairy, wheat/gluten and sugar (reasonable accommodation considered).
- Collaborative influencer who thrives in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and partners tightly with Sales Planning, Supply Chain, Finance, Brand and Store Operations.
- Detail-oriented organizer who manages multiple timelines and keeps projects moving using Stage Gate or similar project tools.
- Proven launcher with a track record of developing and commercializing new products from idea to shelf, aligned to category strategy.
- 7+ years in Category Management or Brand Marketing within CPG, Retail and/or Restaurant/QSR, with a strong command of category management principles and performance drivers.
