Cardiovascular/Radiology Interventional Specialist (CRIS)
Description
Summary:
Assists physicians in cardiology and neuro interventional procedures, takes x-rays and angiographs as ordered by physician under state and registry guidelines.
Responsibilities:
1. Takes quality diagnostic images. Verifies physician�s orders, enters patient's demographics and evaluates film.
2. Assists/scrubs with proceduralists utilizing sterile technique and universal precautions at all times.
3. Explains procedure to patient and answers any questions.
4. Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol.
5. Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Ensures radiation protection for patient and staff.
6. Assists with inventory. Stocks all supplies on a daily basis.
7. Charts patient�s accounts accurately.
8. Responsible for on-call per monthly schedule for all emergency procedures.
9. Monitors radiographic quality for optimum diagnosis ensuring all films have the proper identification.
10. Monitors patient's hemodynamic status and ECG, collects and enters patient information, results of oxygen saturations and cardiac outputs into physiologic monitoring system, and generates a report at completion of procedure.
11. Assists the cardiologist with arterial closure devices. Competent in sheath removal and obtaining hemostasis.
12. Performs all CME functions prior to submitting case for dictation.
13. Prepares cath lab prior to invasive testing. Calibrates and performs all daily QA checks on radiographic, hemodynamic and other equipment used with each procedure.
14. Responsible for on-call per monthly schedule for all emergency procedures
15. Achieves the organization's established expectations with regard to quality, service, teamwork, self-development, and community service.
16. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
