About the role
Reporting to the Head of Melbourne Clinical School you will provide expert clinical, technical, and organisational support for procedural-skills and simulation-based teaching of third- and fourth-year medical students. You will ensure the effective setup and operation of teaching equipment to support the delivery of high-quality learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, and maintain equipment and consumables for procedural-skills teaching sessions
- Ensure all manikins, models, and clinical aids are functional, clean, and appropriately stored.
- Provide clinical and technical assistance during teaching sessions, supporting academic and clinician educators.
- Demonstrate or assist in demonstrating procedural skills under supervision of teaching staff.
- Serve as an active member of the OSCE Working Group responsible for planning and implementing clinical examinations.
- Assist in the logistical preparation of OSCE stations, including setup of equipment, consumables, and environmental layout.
- Coordinate station turnover and maintain examination integrity throughout OSCE sessions.
- Liaise with academic staff, examiners, and administrative officers regarding scheduling and station requirements.
- Contribute to post-OSCE review and evaluation processes.
- Maintain a current inventory of all simulation and teaching resources.
- Monitor equipment function and organise repairs, servicing, and consumable replacement.
- Collaborate with suppliers and biomedical staff regarding equipment upgrades and procurement.
- Work collaboratively within the medical-education and multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to quality-improvement activities and the development of innovative educational practices.
- Maintain clinical competence relevant to teaching scope.
- Support and model professional standards consistent with the organisation’s values and policies.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Hold an MD or equivalent medical qualification.
- Completion of a PhD or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
- Experience in medical education and clinical practice
- Experience with and a high level of pastoral care to students.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, teaching in the context of the Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health and Aged Care Services in Australia Qualifications & Experience
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines in a busy education environment.
