ABOUT THE OFFICE      
The University Analytics, Planning and Performance Office supports the University in the areas of data analysis, planning and reporting to monitor the University’s performance and progress on agreed goals and priorities.
The office is committed to providing stakeholders within the University with the information required to support data informed decision making.
   
ABOUT THE ROLE      
This role works in conjunction with Analytics, Planning and Performance team to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. Specifically this role will support and maintain the university data warehouse as well as contributing to the development and improvement of the BI function.
This position reports to the Director, Analytics, Planning and Performance and operates with significant autonomy.   
Key Responsibilities 
 
  • Develop processes and procedures for data management across the University, or within the scope of a specific project
  • Analyse current data warehousing processes for improvement to make procedures more efficient, or enabling the realisation of a different end target
  • Design, architect, configure, develop and implement a centralized Enterprise data warehouse solution for business applications data using cloud Microsoft technologies and presenting information in visualized dashboards and reports via Power BI
  • In conjunction with the other BI & Data Warehouse team members, design, development and implementation of the overall Organizational Business Intelligence Strategy;
  • Design and develop data models to arrange a data structure optimised for Business Intelligence and analytics, implementing solutions using proven database architecture, modelling, and sound information architecture principles
  • Analyse business data requirements and engage with key stakeholders, suggesting and implementing quality solutions and reports, and dashboards using the latest features of the Microsoft platform.
  • Support other Business Intelligence developers, as well as the wider APP team, ensuring best practice, and participating as a positive and reliable team member promoting and contributing to a supportive environment.
  • Optimise the data integration platform, ensuring optimal performance, data availability, accessibility and integrity
Qualifications, skills & experience      
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification in Data Science or Analytics, and extensive experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of five years’ experience of working as an ETL/BI Developer/Leader in a large enterprise wide environment with large and complex datasets using Microsoft Data and Analytics Suite of products, both on-prem and Azure
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of solution using the technologies available on the Microsoft Azure Platform (e.g. Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage/Data Lake, Azure Active Directory, etc.)
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of languages, cloud based services and software utilised by the University, including but not limited to SQL, Azure & Peoplesoft
  • Proven ability to manage systems and structures to find innovative solutions to manage competing workload and business demands.
  • Experience working with Product Owners or Business users to understand business needs, define scope and translating requirements into technical specifications
  • Experience in leading and implementing continuous improvement initiatives and service delivery improvements aligned to the University’s strategic objectives.
  • Good conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems and business requirements.
