POSITION
The School of Nursing and Midwifery located on the Darlinghurst Sydney Campus seeks expressions of interest from registered nurses to support the clinical education of Undergraduate student nurses on professional practice placement within the Bachelor of Nursing program (SYD campus).
The Clinical Facilitator will be responsible for undergraduate 1st, 2nd and 3rd year nursing students completing the professional practice units of study in a variety of healthcare settings, in various wards and specialties.
 
Key Responsibilities 
  • Welcoming and orientating the students to the specified facility
  • Acting as a professional role model
  • Opportunistic student learning and clinical teaching, linking theory to practice whilst in the clinical setting
  • Identifying learning needs and promoting skill development
  • Formal written evaluations and assessments of clinical skills as provided by the University
  • Providing feedback to students and the University through open communication
  • Available on a fulltime rotational roster throughout each professional practice cycle. Monday to Friday
  • Contactable by mobile phone and email
 
ABOUT YOU 
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with no notations and/or restrictions
  • Minimum of five (5) years post-registration experience in a clinical setting
  • Post graduate qualifications in an area of specialty
  • Experience and involvement in the preceptorship/mentorship and supervision of nursing students/junior staff within a clinical setting.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Previous experience in facilitating and assessment of Undergraduate Nursing students in the clinical setting
  • Post graduate qualifications in clinical education
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work autonomously when required.

  • Computer literacy
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skillsat
  • Demonstrates a high level of pastoral care to students
  • Knowledge of the registered nurse standards for practice
  • Understands and Supports the Objects and the Catholic ethos of the University
