ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery and Health Sciences is the largest faculty at the University of Notre Dame Australia. 
 
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a 4-year graduate-entry program which combines basic and clinical sciences, communication and clinical skills, population and public health, personal and professional development, Aboriginal Health and research. The curriculum is delivered principally through Problem Based Learning in small groups led by a tutors for the Foundation Years (Years 1 and 2) and then through clinical placements in years 3 and 4.
 
 
ABOUT THE ROLE  
 
This position is based on the Darlinghurst Campus, Sydney, and reports to the National Head of School. In collaboration with key stakeholders the role will lead the development of a National core bioethics curriculum, including teaching and coordination. Responsibilities will also include program and course coordination for the postgraduate programs including the Masters of Bioethics.
 
Responsibilities
 
Developing and coordinating the National core Bioethics curriculum delivered by the National School of Medicine;
Assisting in identifying and implementing postgraduate programs and relevant course development, according to strategically identified priorities, including the Masters of Bioethics
Supervising Masters level coursework students; 
Supporting students requesting pastoral care 
Reviewing and updating courses on a cyclical basis;
Contribute to other courses in the School of Medicine as directed
Contributing to appropriate School committees;
Supporting School participation in student recruitment, orientation and enrolment
 
ABOUT YOU 
 
Possession of a PhD or a Medical qualification registrable with AHPRA and a Fellowship of a relevant professional body or significant progress towards.
Experience in teaching at Masters level or higher or in medical, health or professional practice based education settings.
Demonstrated experience in Bioethics curriculum and course development
Demonstrated ability to work in a team of educators, preferably in a university or health service environment, to provide a quality learning experience
A capacity to work collaboratively with relevant staff to implement and maintain effective systems and processes for ensuring the quality delivery of the program, and for leading continuous quality improvement
An ability to foster external relationships and communication with schools, potential students and other stakeholders
