About the school

The School of Medicine was established in 2005 in Fremantle, and opened in Sydney in 2008, with the National School established in 2021. It has seven Clinical Schools and facilities in NSW and Victoria and will commence a Commonwealth funded end-to-end rural pathway program based at the Broome campus in 2025. 
 
About the role

The Dean will lead a national team of around 230 staff and support collaboration nationally within both the School and the broader University.  This will include building links with external stakeholders in the health and government sectors, industry and the community.

The School has established partnerships on both the east and west coasts, particularly amongst the network of Catholic hospitals and health providers.

Key Responsibilities

The School of Medicine is a vital part of Notre Dame’s future strategy, and the Dean will have the full support of the University and its leadership. The role operates with a high level of autonomy, and will have a strong focus on achieving operational excellence within the School. 

This includes aligning national curriculum, growing research capacity, and increasing student numbers - both domestically and internationally.  

The Dean’s position provides an opportunity to lead and build an emerging medical school. The University is seeking candidates with outstanding medical and research credentials, and the ability to engage with researchers and clinicians at every level. A clinically impactful leader is preferred, with the opportunity to continue clinical practice.
