About the role

This position will work in collaboration with academic and professional administrative colleagues, including Clinical Placements Coordinator and the Medical Education Unit to provide effective and efficient support to the Head of Discipline and Head of Clinical School.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributing to curriculum review and development, and teaching activities as required relevant to Paediatrics and Child Health and the University, including “Back to Base” days.
  • Conducting a weekly teaching ward round or equivalent with the students.
  • Conducting regular formative assessments, including provision of feedback on student performance.
  • Providing Clinical Skills Training sessions on Paediatrics and Child Health.
  • Attending Discipline meetings as necessary and University In-Service teacher training as required.
  • participating in assessment and evaluation activities throughout the academic year including OSCEs.
  • supporting research activities in conjunction with other staff in line with the school research strategy; and other duties as directed by the Heads of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Understanding of, and commitment to, teaching in the context of the Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health and Aged Care Services in Australia.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Hold an MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Hold Fellowship in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in teaching in a health context.
  • A relevant clinical appointment with The  Children’s Hospital at Westmead (SCHN).
