What the Job Looks Like     
As an Inspection Technician, you’ll primarily be in the field on construction sites handling technical inspection of water and sewer infrastructure construction projects, to assure compliance with LCA standards and specifications, applicable codes, and performance standards. You’ll make a significant contribution to the long-term success of Lehigh County Authority with your utmost precision and attention to detail, making sure that every project and task is executed to perfection!      
     
Get ready to dive into some exciting responsibilities that will keep you engaged and motivated:   
  • Oversight of contractors in the field and collaborate with other LCA departments to ensure seamless coordination of waterline tie-ins/taps, utility conflicts, final inspections, meter installations, and utility mark-outs.
  • Conduct daily on-site inspections of liner infrastructure and perform punchlist inspections, issuing correspondence for mandatory corrective work.
  • Adhere to safe construction practices and take all necessary field measurements.
  • Utilize Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment to collect and record site-specific physical features for water, wastewater, and or other infrastructure related to development projects.
  • Facilitate regular coordination with development contractors to ensure proper construction schedules, modifications & connections with existing LCA facilities, new systems testing and disinfection, final inspection, and end-of-maintenance-period inspection.
  • As a liaison between the public and LCA during construction, including resolving any issues that may arise including preparing property damage and incident reports and notifying customers of any outages or issues. 
 
 
Important Qualifications for Your Success     
  • Experience: 5+ years’ experience in utility construction or construction inspection required        
  • Education: Associates or technical school degree and/or relevant certifications preferred        
  • Licensure: Pennsylvania driver’s license required in order to operate company vehicles        
  • Location:  Working from the field, you’ll be working outside in all weather conditions        
  • Skills:  
    • Water and wastewater systems construction practices including trenching/excavation, site work, water mains, sanitary sewer, paving, sidewalks and curbing.
    • Good communication and conflict resolution skills as you’ll need to explain LCA policies, standards, and procedures to contractors and resolve any conflicts that may arise.
    • Solid understanding of standard construction details and proficiency in operating handheld GPS equipment and portable computer equipment.
    • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and work effectively with others as part of a team.
