Position Title:  Senior Design System Engineer

Location: LATAM - Remote

What you will be doing:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design System Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role requires a deep understanding of design systems, UX/UI principles, and front-end development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a scalable design system that enhances user experience, promotes consistency across our products, and streamlines the design and development process. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve the design system, ensuring it meets user needs and aligns with business goals.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, developers, and product managers to create reusable components and patterns.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and improve existing components.
  • Implement best practices for design system documentation, including guidelines for usage, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • Advocate for design system adoption across teams, providing training and support as needed.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the design system remains competitive and innovative.
  • Contribute to the overall product development lifecycle, ensuring design consistency from conception through implementation.
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues and provide solutions that align with technical constraints.
  • Assist engineering team(s) with onboarding to the design system.
  • Assist and guide engineering teams in upgrading from React 17 to React 18

Requirements & Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in design systems, UX/UI design, and front-end development.
  • 3+ years of experience in React, Vue and Angular.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch) and front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present design solutions and rationale effectively.
  • A robust portfolio showcasing previous design system work and related projects.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., GitHub, GitLab).
  • Experience with design tokens and component libraries.
  • Familiarity with API design and integration.
  • Radix UI (React)/Reka UI (Vue): Primitives, unstyled components our DS components are built on, providing accessibility and functionality
  • Tools used to develop, document and test UI components (e.g., Storybook, Cypress, Firebase)
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Vitest.
  • Knowledge of styling and formatting tools including (e.g. ESLint, Prettier, Tailwind)
  • Strong understanding of continuous integration and continuous learning (CI/CD) platforms (e.g. CircleCI, GitHub Actions).
  • Knowledge of Nx monorepo tooling.
