Hiring Range: $20.07 - $24.58 per hour

Additional Shift Differentials as high as $1.25 per hour

Kitsap Mental Health Services is hiring a Behavioral Health Tech to join our Crisis Triage Team. The Behavioral Health Technician assists clients with Crisis Services while maintaining a safe and therapeutic work environment and assists clients in meeting their daily basic needs for health and safety.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take appropriate measures to meet the client's daily basic needs for health and safety, including but not limited to the following tasks:
    1. Prepare and serve meals,
    2. Conduct safety checks of the units,
    3. Monitor clients according to the assigned levels of observation,
    4. Provide transportation as directed by a supervisor,
    5. Assist in maintaining a clean work environment,
    6. Assist in maintaining a sufficient inventory of food and non-food items
  • Complete all required electronic and paper charting, documentation, and data entry of clients as outlined in the appropriate KMHS guidelines, manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in clinical activities as directed by a supervisor, including but not limited to:
    1. Facilitate approved group activities
    2. Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of the client's mental status during each shift,
    3. Record client nutritional intake, sleep, and vitals,
    4. Run treatment groups on shift
    5. Take referrals appropriately
    6. Follow specific behavioral protocols for clients as directed by a supervisor, and
  • Complete all paperwork involved in providing direct client care, including but not limited to the following:
    1. Paperwork relating to admission and discharge,
    2. Confidentiality,
    3. Client rights,
    4. Client inventories,
    5. Tracking sheets
  • Attend all mandatory training on time and as scheduled.
  • Keep current on all required documentation (i.e., food handlers permit, counselor licenses, etc.).


Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: Entry level (no prior related work experience)

Valid Washington Food Handler card. (can be obtained after hire)

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (can be obtained after hire)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum two years of job-related experience)

Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness.

 

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain audio and visual observation at all times.
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for long periods.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, hold and lift as needed to successfully evade and participate in protective holds against client weight (40 -250lbs).
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to remain calm and utilize safety training in potentially assaultive client interactions.
  • Ability to move quickly and confidently to assist or intervene in potentially stressful situations.
  • Successful completion of safety training, which includes demonstrating the ability to: maintain balance, torso twist, forward bend, pivot, sidestep, forward and backward step, crouch, move to secure limb, knee touch to ground, kneel, get up from floor sitting or kneeling position.
