FACT Peer Support Specialist – Full-time
Hiring Range: $20.07 - $24.58 per hour
Additional $2.00 per hour FACT Team Differential

Kitsap Mental Health Services is seeking a compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our FACT (Forensic Assertive Community Treatment) team. This role involves providing essential support and guidance to individuals navigating mental health disorders in their journey to recovery.
Job Summary:
As a Peer Support Specialist within the FACT team, you will work collaboratively with various specialists to provide time-limited services to clients most impacted by their mental health symptoms. You'll empower clients by sharing your personal experience while assisting them in setting and achieving their recovery goals.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Offer guidance and encouragement, drawing from personal experiences, to support clients in their recovery journey and maintain independence during periods of instability.
  • Provide coaching in various life skills, including transition, money management, personal hygiene, transportation, and employment readiness.
  • Act as an interpreter and offer expertise from a client perspective, contributing to treatment planning, crisis intervention, and substance abuse services.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, offering peer knowledge and perspectives to support client progress.
  • Collaborate with staff and clients to raise awareness of client rights and support grievance resolution procedures.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while utilizing personal experiences to support clients effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with productivity standards and seek support from the FACT supervisor as needed.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: Entry level (no prior related work experience)
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportation. 
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Certification as a Peer Support Specialist in the state of Washington is required and must be obtained within six months or less from date of employment.  This timeframe will only be extended if the availability of WA State Peer Support Specialist training and testing cannot offer training and testing within the six month timeframe.  The certified peer applicant will be expected to enroll in and complete the first available training and utilize first available testing dates in order to retain employment at KMHS.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field. 
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
Experience working with clients with diagnosed mental health disorders in a community mental health setting, client Clubhouse, or in vocational, social service, or educational settings.
