Job Summary
The primary function of this position is to be the gatekeeper of all controlled documents, and to be the lead person on all third party and regulatory audits. This team member shall also provide technical support to all departments of the facility in regards to any food safety initiative. This position will support all food safety, quality, and regulatory aspects of the process and products.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as document control manager for the plant; oversee document routings, amendments or changes
  • Ensure all documents are SQF ready, to be audited on any day.
  • Responsible for leading and organizing SQF, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Perform HACCP/SSOP training for hourly and salaried employees annually or as needed
  • Responsible for being the SME for all things HACCP/SSOP; provide plant support
  • Provide technical expertise around prerequisite programs, validations, and operational inputs.
  • Responsible for regulatory updates and how they apply to current production
  • Responsible for supporting, maintaining, and writing policies and procedures as needed.
  • Serve as lead auditor for internal audits and schedules the internal audits with other team members.
  • Be capable of performing swabs and validations tests as needed.
  • Responsible for overseeing and performing Pre-shipment reviews, recalls, and traceability tasks.
  • Ensure all product specs developed are in compliance and adhered to.
  • Responsible for the development, Implementation, and enforcement of facility quality control program.
  • Place on hold any products that are not meeting food safety / quality specifications
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining training tools and resources to ensure food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are being followed
 
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science or related discipline is preferred; but will consider related experience in lieu of formal education
  • Must have at least 1 year FSQA experience
  • HACCP Certification
  • Experience with writing an SQF Program and participating in SQF audits (or other GFSI standard)
  • Ability to make decisions without guidance

  • Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Must be able to read and comprehend regulations, correspondence, instructions, rules and regulations as well as fill out forms and write reports
 
 
Working Conditions
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time
  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing.
  • Slippery floors, cold temperatures, and loud ambient noise
  • Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information.
  • May be exposed to stressful situations.
  • May be required to work additional hours/overtime without advance notice.
