Job Description – Beef Test Tracker
Position Summary
The Beef Test Tracker is responsible for coordinating product testing, release and hold activities, maintaining accurate food safety and quality records, and providing technical support to plants and customers. This role ensures laboratory testing, documentation, and product disposition are completed accurately and efficiently while supporting food safety programs, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements.
Essential Job Duties
- Manage sample requests for trim production teams, ensuring samples are collected, submitted, tracked, and documented accurately.
- Monitor laboratory results from Shop floor and generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for internal and external customers.
- Distribute laboratory reports and COAs in a timely manner to plants, customers, and internal departments.
- Maintain accurate records of product testing, food safety data, product dispositions, and quality reports.
- Assist with release/hold decisions based on microbiological testing, product specifications, and company policies.
- Communicate with production facilities, laboratories, customer service, and technical services regarding product status, incomplete results, retesting needs, and product disposition.
- Investigate incomplete or delayed laboratory results and coordinate sample retakes when necessary.
- Compile, organize, and analyze data to support customer inquiries, internal reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare routine for the Technical Services Department using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation while ensuring compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Provide administrative and technical support to the Technical Services team on special projects and daily operations.
- Assist during internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections by providing accurate documentation and records.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, workflow efficiency, and data management processes.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in Technical Services, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or production experience highly desired.
- Working knowledge of food manufacturing and food safety systems preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, spreadsheets, formulas, and report generation.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and customers.
- Ability to learn new software systems quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Work Schedule
- Regular schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off.
- If plant operations require Saturday production, the Beef Test Tracker will work Sunday instead, with Monday remaining the scheduled day off.
The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid time off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): eligible after 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
- Base pay range of $23.25-$27.25
