Drafter - Material Handling

Chief Agri is seeking a Drafter for our Material Handling Product Line to join the Chief team. This position uses SolidWorks to create 3-D Part and Assembly models and 2-D drawings for Chief Agri products to communicate engineering specifications to production departments and/or customers. Will also create and maintain bills of materials.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and revise 2 and 3 dimensional models and drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD generally based on existing related data, verbal communication, or sketches.
  • Will constantly increase product knowledge of Chief Material Handling equipment. Works with others within the department and throughout the organization to explore ways to maintain the highest quality products at the lowest cost in the marketplace.
  • Composes accurate bills-of-material based on number of parts needed to make up the product on the drawings to relieve inventory and to ship product. Will maintain data in the MRP system.
  • Creates and revises operator and erection manuals, answers questions from dealers or erectors.


Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree from two-year college or technical school or equivalent on the job experience of one to three years required.
  • Knowledge of proper drafting techniques to communicate details required for manufacturing and erection of products in the field including experience with 3-D parametric design software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and hands on mechanical and/or agricultural experience is a plus.
