Chief Agri is seeking a Drafter to join the Chief team in our Kearney, NE office. This position uses CAD and SolidWorks to create 3-D models and 2-D drawings of parts and assemblies for Chief Agri products to communicate engineering specifications to production departments and/or customers. Will also create and maintain bills of materials and assist in the evaluation of product design. 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Create and revise 2 and 3 dimensional models and drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD generally based on existing related data, verbal communication, or sketches.
  • Manage and maintain CAD files and related engineering documents within SolidWorks PDM Professional environment.
  • Will work with others within the engineering department and throughout the organization to explore ways to maintain the highest quality products at the lowest cost in the marketplace.
  • Composes accurate bills-of-material based on number of parts needed to make up the product on the drawings to relieve inventory and to ship product. Will maintain data in the MRP system.
  • Creates and revises operator and erection manuals, answers questions from dealers or erectors. May occasionally visit customer sites to evaluate applications and issues.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree from two-year college or technical school required.
  • Knowledge of proper drafting techniques to communicate details required for manufacturing and erection of products in the field including experience with 3-D parametric design software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and hands on mechanical and/or agricultural experience is a plus.
